Learning from Senator(President)Obama

Posted by सजिलो नेपाल | Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Listening to Senator Obama live at my college stadium was one of the best experiences of my life. His candid nature, strong reasoning power and honesty is what makes him so charismatic and this is why people believe in him.

His campaign has given a HOPE for many of us, YES WE CAN is the campaign slogan and we all are FIRED UP. (As we know American Presidential election is not only for Americans, it affect each of us as a global citizen)

So what Nepali Politician can Learn from this Gentleman:

The Policy of Unity: He came forward with a Positive Thought, win-win situation for all. He believes in working together for not only a better America but a better World. After all "People are strange when you are a stranger".

Vision: He is without a doubt a visionary leader. He knows what he should do to make America and the world better. He has always stood his ground and stuck to his beliefs. Obama knows exactly WHY he should win and he is clear about what he is supposed to do if he wins.

Positive Campaign: Totally focused on His Agenda, argue with Reasons, and respect for the opponent[no dirty personal attack]. He attacked the practice/policy not the person.

Invest wisely: one of the most popular statements he has made is regarding college education. Obama has said that he will make college education affordable if not free. But in return he has asked the students to serve the country (volunteer for a few years in social work). This is a fantastic idea as this will make the students feel more responsible towards their country and work for its betterment.

Above the segregation issue: He believes that a better American can only exist if all Americans regardless of their race, whether they are rich or poor, unite as a unit because divided we cannot achieve this goal.. Regressive forces can take advantage and exploit us if we are divided, they make merry while we fight among one anotherभाई भाई लडे गवार लुटे।।।. we need to realize that we are Humans first and then a NEPALI. Our Race, Religion, Sex, Political believes and Color are secondary. These should be our binding force and not the other way around .Its easy to break one strand of thread, but when its bundle up and forms a rope its almost impossible to break it.

Looking at the political situation of my own country, I hope that the upcoming generation of young leaders look at Obama as an example of an extraordinary leader. Nepalese politicians need to be clear about what they are fighting for and what changes that they want to make and how to get there. at a time when every politician seems to be pointing their fingers at each other, to do a positive campaign would mean to bring about a shift in Nepal’s political dynamics. If the leader is determined to bring about a positive change not by doing dirty politics, then this will ultimately shift his attention to the his people and the country and focus on how to improve our Education, Health system and keep the economy growing. YES WE CAN (change the face of NEPAL for BETTER).

He truly exhibits the qualities of a great leader and this is what America and the world needs...a leader and not a politician to lead and unite this country..the world.
